Capas IV is one of a series of paintings capturing the power and movement of the branches of the Umbrella Pine as seen from beneath.
Each painting in the series begins with the transfer of a tracing/rubbing of the bark of the specific tree represented in the image, onto the canvas board. Layers of colour are then added using acrylic paint, and earth pigment gathered from the local area in Andalucía where the trees grow.
The coordinates for the geographical location of the tree are recorded on the back of the painting. In this way, your tree can be found should you choose to search or visit it.
