Tree story
This Ficus macrophylla is an arboreal icon of the city of Cádiz with a unique story! Thought to have been planted in 1903, the story goes that two missionary nuns coming from India had brought the plants in their luggage. Intending to reach northern Spain, they fell ill and had to stop in Cádiz where they sadly died. Two of the trees were planted at the Mora Hospital, as a tribute, and the other two at the Alameda.
