Human Nature I is one of a series of paintings capturing the strength and movement of the Mediterranean stone pine tree. In this piece we look up through the exaggerated colours and forms of the branches, to the bright Andalucian sky beyond.
The umbrella pine or stone pine is a tree native to the mediterranean basin and plays a crucial role in combating erosion in coastal areas. It also has a rich and ancient history, featuring in myth, legend, art, and classical literature since antiquity. Revered by the ancient Greeks and Romans, it has inspired artists and poets throughout the centuries.

Human Nature I is presented in a 'floating' frame of natural pine wood - hand-made by a local trusted framer. It can be protected with either a clear wax, or a coloured wax for a light oak finish.
